Siddhi Vinayak Ganpati Temple is temple of Lord Ganesha and attracts the highest number of devotees from all over India and the world. It was built in 1801 by a lady named as Deubai Patel on a small piece of land because of for her devotion for Lord Ganesha but as time passed this shrine became the most visited shrine of Mumbai. 3. Mahalaxmi Temple:
Mahalaxmi Temple is one of the oldest temples in Mumbai. It was built by Dhakaji Dadaji in 1831 and is over the hilltop in Worli area of Mumbai. Folklores suggests that an engineer in British government Ramji Shivji Prabhu got directions to build this temple in a dream from Goddess Mahalaxmi when he pleaded for help from Goddess after many failed attempts to fulfill his wishes. Goddess directed him to find deities hidden under water which which were hidden there for centuries so that they could be protected from Muslim Invaders. There are 3 main deities in temple – Shree Mahasarasvati Devi, Shree Mahalaxmi Devi and Shree Mahakali Devi which are all the three supreme deities of sattva, rajas, tamas sects of Hinduism, representing divine knowledge, enormous wealth & invincible power respectively. Thousands of devotees offer their respect to Goddess everyday in the temple. Temple is just 1 Km from Mahalaxmi railway station in Mumbai.
